Band President’s Corner

Hello! My name is Ann Brand, and I am the Band Parent Organization President. A big welcome to new and returning band parents as we prepare to kick off another great year of MHS Band. While this year is a little bittersweet for me, as my youngest is a senior, this time of year is always exciting as we anticipate all that MHS Bands have in store for the year. MHS has one of the strongest band programs in the state, and the music and events they share with us throughout the year show the dedication and hard work of our directors and students. So much to be proud of!

The mission of Band Parent Organization is to provide financial assistance and support services to the band program. Our goal is to aid in the development of student interests in music, to support the music curriculum and activities, and to promote student leadership and responsibilities. The money that we raise goes to support the band program through purchasing instruments and equipment, hiring clinicians, and offering scholarships just to name a few things we support.

Volunteer support is critical to the mission of our organization. Your time and talents go a long way in making our fundraisers successful and supporting the directors so they can focus their attention on our students. There are many ways to get involved from taking a shift at one of our fundraisers, donating a pie, or taking a position on the Band Parent Board. Volunteering is also a great way to meet people and get your finger on the pulse of the band program. All are welcome and needed! Stay tuned throughout the year as we share opportunities to give your time to support MHS bands.

If you are interested in learning more about the Band Parent Organization or would like to get involved, please join our quarterly meetings (dates and times will be sent out through Skyward). If you are interested in filling one of our open positions, contact me at [email protected]
